Pictures in music

Post by james »

A lot of you will have seen this, but I thought it was worthy of a post anyway.

The story is someone played Windowlicker by Aphex Twin through a spectograph program which essentially visualises the spectrum of sound. Within this image the 'demon face' was found. With some further tweaking it turned out to be Aphex Twin's own face in his track.

Pretty cool.

There's more out there, from artists such as Plaid and V. Snares.
Check this website for all the pics and the full story.

I wonder how long it will be until you get porn music.

That's real, and it's easy to do, though.
You turn an image to a sound, it makes a king of high pitched chords.

But you cannot put this kind of sound in any song.

Yeah, as Ra says, it is real. The only artists that can get away with it are the ones where a portion of high pitched static doesn't sound too out of place in their tracks though.

i thought this was gonna be something to do with those people who claim they can hear/smell colours. Sweet image though looks like something you would see in winamp if you looked at it for too long :)

Yeah, that's synaesthesia. Kenny suffers from that, he sees pretty colours when he listens to music; how fun!
