Robert Hood
Saturday December 18th sees the return of Robert Hood to Test.
Along with Dan Bell, Robert Hood revolutionised techno music during the mid to late 90s, with benchmark releases like 'Internal Empire', 'Minimal Nation' 'Master Builder' and 'Movable Parts'.
Showing his diversity, the former Underground Resistance member also released the jazz-inspired 'Nighttime World Voume 1' album as well as dubbier sounds as Monobox and furious chord-heavy bruisers under the Missing Channel and H&M collaborative guises.
Hood, unlike many of Detroit first wavers, is still a major force , with the Hoodmusic series for Music Man and his Fabric mix proving that when it comes to stripped back, hard-edged techno, he's unbeatable. Pushing new ideas under his Floorplan guise and DJing all over the world, Hood is still the Master Builder, we're intrigued what he has planned for this return visit.

Dan Mc Elligott
Not since Alan Carbery (Carberry, Carbury, Cadbury, Carburry) has there been a man with a more misspelled (mispelled, misspeled, misspelt ?) surname than Dan McElligott (McEligot, McGillicott, McGillycuddy, McGott in Himmel) but despite this copyrighting impediment, Dan has gone from strength to strength from his early days bunking in underage to Electric City parties. During the past few years Dan has somehow managed to combine getting a degree in software engineering together with supporting the maximal minimal likes of (take a deep breath).. Sleeparchive, The Advent, Rob Hall, Cassy, Regis, Redshape, Efdemin, Magda, Chris Liebing, Function, Delta Funktionen, Phonique, Donnacha Costello, Marc Houle, Paco Osuna, Joel Mull, Samuel Sessions, Brian Sanhaji, Miss Jools, Mistress Barbra, Kevin Gorman...etc
His early days were spent perusing the dusty bins of Selectah Records, but like that famed record store, he has gone in a new direction and rather mixes out on the 0's &1's than the 1's & 2's - no surprise given his software background. Playing off a selection of Serato, Samplers, foot pedals & the occasional record that's actually a, eh, record He is regularly found behind the controls at the Test nights where he is a well-established resident . His deep moody dark music appeals across the board from the trainspotters trying to pinpoint the latest unreleased mp3 action to the older European women who want to take Dan home and run their fingers through his hair and simply take care of him. All this and Dan is still yet to reach his 17th birthday - OK, he just looks 17 - but lots more on the future horizons from Mr. McElligott - someday the whole world will know to spell his name.
