Manc 01/05/09 ELECTRODE- SCANONE LIVE, WARLOCK + MORE

As we continue with our irregular party action (basically whenever we feel like it) we reckon we've pulled out the nearly all the stops for our second shindig in two months.

WATCH THIS SPACE FOR MORE INFO ABOUT THE VENUE

Here's some info on the artists:-

It's no secret that we, at Electrode Towers are big fans of the COMBAT RECORDINGS label. Stormfield and Ardisson may as well live up here such are the frequency of their visits, Cursor Miner recently graced us with his presence and now we turn to Jude Greenaway aka SCANONE

With some seriously heavy releases to date on not just COMBAT (Tookit's Pt 1+2, Dark Horse Dubs, Every 7th Bullet EP) but also DIGITAL DISTORTIONS, DIRTY NEEDLES, BLASE and his own YELLOW MACHINES imprint, it kinda figures that his tracks are a regular feature in sets from the likes of Surgeon, Rob Hall, Warlock and Mary Anne Hobbs to name but a few. More recently, his 'LOST TAPES' Radio Sessions on Ill FM has become a haven for soundtracks of jungle and proto- drum'n'bass nostalgia alongside fierce breakbeat and bassline brutaltiy. Check it out.

With a sound encompassing, dubstep, jungle, electro and IDM we've got him up for a full-on live set and with his last visit up to Manchester occuring many moons ago at Sequence, we're well chuffed he's back.

Joining Jude on the bill is WARLOCK. Again, no stranger to Electrode or Manchester, he smashed it up a little over a year ago and a retrun visit is well overdue.

Alongside NOYEAHNO, Jason is responsible for the the RAG'N'BONE label, tiptoeing between dubstep, breakbstep, bassline and jungle with effortless guile with a roster that includes BLACKMASS PLASTICS, STARKEY, KANJI KINETIC, DROP THE LIMEand KING CANNIBAL to name but a few.

His ability to tear it up can traced all the way back to his time at the legendary Spiral Tribe parties and whilst his releases may not be as frequent as some might hope, EPs such as Under The Cosh, Made In Chains, Full Tilt and Window Smasher remain in the DJ box for many.

You can catch WARLOCK and NOYEAHNO every other Wednesday evening on Sub FM, if you're speakers can handle it, that is.

Joining them on the night will be local heroes SEX WITH ROBOT DJS dropping rave-infused grimey numbers like there's no tomorrow, while DUNCAN WHITLEY aka Mr Sushi will be dropping in with some heavy breakbeat fuelled electronics.

Chuck in residents TEUTONIC KABOOM, JOEL ATTACK and GLOVER you've got yourself a serious party.

See ya'll there.

Slight change of plan everbody. After a lengthy disagreement with our chums at the Council about the legal capacity of the intended Warehouse space (70 people my arse), as upstanding members of the law we have re-located to underneath Palace Hotel for this Friday’s event.

The date and line up stay the same, although I’d get down there pretty early as it’s looking like a proper busy one. Doors are open 10pm-3am.

Those of you suffering from either acute clockwatching or electronic geekery syndrome will surely take interest in a not-too-dated interview with Warlock below.

And here's a fairly recent interview with ScanOne on complete with live set from last year:-
