any crazy things being put on to entertain us whilst we take a break from dancing?
YO. Yes, there is LOADS
Aside from the massive aqua park which is open all day and free to get in, the sports bar, pool and snooker tables, go-karts, funfair, ten pin bowling and arcades which are already at Butlins, We will be providing the following extra-curricular entertainment.....
BlocTV Channel
BLOC TV is a broadcast unit embedded within the bloc organisation. They can reach your brains via the television units placed within each apartment, but don’t be alarmed – BLOC TV will broadcast positive vibes only. Containing a heady mix of live feeds from the stages and culturally progressive programming from all five corners of the solar system, BLOCTV will fill two whole channels 24 hours a day for the entire weekend.
BLOCTV1 will be a grab bag of live feeds from the venues (you need never miss a thing) from the comfort of your apartments) documentaries and boundary pushing music related video. Our centrepiece is a Bob Jaroc showcase, where the pioneering film maker made famous through his work with Plaid will be screening a selection of his favourite films and shorts along with his own creations.
BLOCTV2 concentrates on movies. A pulverising combo of horror, violence, martial arts, B-movies, arthouse, blaxploitation or the simple joys of 1980’s comedy, if you’re just feeling too delicate to leave your apartment there will be plenty to occupy your brainspace the whole weekend through.
BlocTV Film Crew
BLOCTV’s roaming camera crew will capture moving images of the crowd and acts in the ever changing maelstrom of light and sound that is BLOC. Make yourselves notorious by jumping in front of the camera and telling them something about yourselves.
Sky:BLOC
New for 2009 is the the Sky:BLOC Arena – a space-age overarching marquee structure covering the centre of the resort to create a hub for social interaction with other BLOC humans. It’s here that you will find our record fair, merchandise stands, rock and roll DJ’s and probably some snoozing BLOC family on the comfy sofas. Featured entertainment in the skyline includes;
[sat 8PM] The Hatwalk – featuring the bad hatters
Cabaret entertainment with a millinery bent
[sat 9PM] The French Connection Trio
A three piece jazz band from the wilds of the East (of England) performing techno covers
[sun 6PM] Ceephax Acid karaoke
All your favourite standards in an acid style, compered by Andrew ‘Ceephax’ Jenkinson
Sky:BLOC also features
DIGITAL GRAFFITI WALL
