I also read about a man being detained for 8 weeks because he had a single poppy seed from a french stick on his clothes.

Utterly ridiculous in my opinion.

He's just got the minimum 4 year sentence!

BBC Radio 1 DJ Grooverider has been jailed for four years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for cannabis possession.

The DJ - real name Raymond Bingham - was arrested in November 2007 for flying in for a nightclub gig with 2.16g of cannabis in his luggage.

Bingham denied smuggling drugs, claiming he had left the cannabis in a trouser pocket and forgotten about it.

I agree it is ridiculous, however, you should investigate, be aware and subsequently take precautions to adhere to the laws and regulations in other countries when travelling. Personally I just won't be travelling there .

Yea damn straight, its his own fault.....How can he say his arrest was 'ridiculous' because if he was in England the police wouldn't care. He might as well have said 'Oh I knew it was legal in Holland so I thought it would be ok'.

He denies smuggling it, but admits it was his and he just forgot about it.......What a retarded excuse, its still smuggling even if he didn't know it was there.
