had my unmentionables confiscated but thank heaven for bloc

Post by pauladaunt »

Hi guys, thanks for the amazing weekend. :D The whole city was quite psychedelic. Fab! The music was great and we really enjoyed ourselves but I didn't really understand the security. They took all my belongings! They made me empty my pockets and kept all I had. I don't think we can have a party like bloc with security like that! I'm not going to parties to get busted like this anymore. The music was great, but I'm sure it was my last. No peace in Hemsby. Fuck that.

Wow, I thought the security were fantastic all weekend. Besides a couple of people being asked not to skin up under the full glare of the lights, I didn't see any problems.

Rubbish that it spoiled your weekend, though :(

When I looked around I didn't see Himmler or Goebbels on the door!
Instead I saw cheery, helpful security staff even when there was a problem they kept their cool.

So now I why mikey-hates-bloccy.

Discreet my ass. They were laughing as they went away with my stuff. They were bad intentioned and sneaky. I was discreet and very well behaved. Many years of party on my C.V. They stole my belongings. They don't have the right to do that. If you hire your fucking place for a party like bloc you must be aware of how to treat the audience.

I'm glad some of you had a good experience with the security and I'm not trying to convince anyone they were all bad, but I got busted TWICE and they laughed at me and said they could kick me out of the party if they wanted to. There shouldn't be parties in places like that, never.

Sorry to hear that pauladaunt BUT why did they search you in the first place?
I don't understand? I didn't see anyone getting searched.
Was it only on one entrance?

They don't have a right to take ALL your belongings but they can take drugs off you and then it's a "do we call the police?" situation.

beleive me mate, the security lot were all fine. they're mates of ours from brighton (pressure point) and all of them are totally sound. we're really not likely to get a safer crew to run it from anywhere else.

in running an event like BLOC, the security have a a very tough job on their hands and our lot did it incredibly well.

it's inevitable that a few people come away from a night pissed off with the bouncers but overall we know that they treated all of us blocheads very well indeed so thanks to them for that

we all enjoyed running the festival (for most of us for the first time ever!) so thanks to all you kids for being so sound.

see you next year!

But that's what they did, and I think you are being quite agressive. I'm only reporting what happened to me. You don't know me and probably didn't see how I was. I was feeling good, dancing with my friends, and when I tried getting in the bathroom with 2 girlfriends they waited for me outside and asked me to empty my pockets.

I know more people that lost their substances and they were mostly enjoying themselves. Monday obviously is a bad day to discuss things in a party forum since some must be a bit off beat, so, once again, thanks or the great party. I can buy all my things back. Safe.

I thought they were great, always greeting with a 'cheers'. Here in Holland they are ALL scumbags and not friendly at all. It's a shame what happened to you, luckily I enjoyed the whole thing.

girl, you're funny... you start talking about "nazi security" and call them "bad intentioned and sneaky", and then call anybody else aggressive? don't be ridiculous mate...

the security staff was top quality and more friendly than at any comparable event that i've been to. if they "stole your belongings" (anything apart from "illegal" substances? i assume not), they have probably seen you using or dealing with drugs. you should be old enough to know that they can (and maybe have to) take them away, kick you out of the event, report you to the police etc...

bad luck that you got busted, but get over it!

if your brother was taken to jail, your chalet was searched and things were taken, there was probably a good reason for it. if you do "illegal" stuff, be smart enough to avoid being caught.

Yeah I thought the security were really great. They had a nice hands off approach and a really friendly attitude. The only contact I had with them was when one of them knocked on the cubicle door in the toilets because the bloke infront of me had been snorting something naughty. Once the security man saw I wasn't up to anything bad he left me alone. If you think they were Nazis you really need to go to a mainstream club on a Saturday night, then you'll see how strict security can be and appreciate how good we had it at Bloc!

Someone I met at the weekend had been searched and had drugs taken off him, which is understandable really because it's not a free party and so the organisers have to obey the law if they catch you with that sort of thing. I was surprised to hear he'd been searched though, because neither me, my mates or anyone else I met that weekend had been. I suppose he was just one of the unlucky ones!
