Transport to King's Cross
Transport to King's Cross
We will be traveling from Holland to London and from there with the coach to the festival. Since I am not familiar in London, I was wondering if anyone here knows the best and cheapest way to get to King's Cross from London Gatwick airport? Some advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
London Gatwick - Victoria train station [£10 approx]
Victoria - Kings Cross on the London Underground [£4 approx]

get yourself an oyster card buddy. card is £3, single ticket inside central london £1.50 with oyster instead £4 if you pay cash, so already £2 saved on the return trip. and you can use your oyster again if you ever come back to london (next year's bloc, olympic games 2012 etc.)BLOCwknd wrote:Victoria - Kings Cross on the London Underground [£4 approx]
for gatwick-victoria the cheapest way would be return ticket on the bus (around £12 return). trains are faster but more expensive.
bus from gatwicked: http://www.nationalexpress.com/

Great. Thanks for the tips. Will these tickets need to be booked in advance or is it possible to do this on arrival and how long does it take to go from Gatwick to Victoria by bus?
One more question; As we will be leaving Bloc on Sunday night with the coach at 20:30, it was said that we will arrive in London around 00:00, is it possible to get a train or bus around that time to go to Victoria and from there to Gatwick? A night train or bus perhaps?

not sure about that, but i assume you can get them on arrivalSplicer wrote:Will these tickets need to be booked in advance or is it possible to do this on arrival
depends on time of day. check http://www.nationalexpress.com/ for details - roughly 1:25 during the day, 1:05 early morning / late evening, and up to 1:50 in the morning rush hours. gatwick express train should take 30 minutes to victoria (http://www.gatwickexpress.com/, £26.80 return)Splicer wrote:and how long does it take to go from Gatwick to Victoria by bus?
looks like last bus out is 23:30, then one at 3:30, then from 7:00.Splicer wrote:arrive in London around 00:00, is it possible to get a train or bus around that time to go to Victoria and from there to Gatwick? A night train or bus perhaps?
last trains 00:01, 00:30 then 03:30 04:30 and then every 15mins from 05:00.

Best is to use Thameslink rather than Gatwick Express. Straight from Gatwick to Kings Cross, no need to change trains. And it's only £9 I believe.

I believe in everything until it's disproved. It all exists, even if it's in your mind - John Lennon
Damn nice, that sounds really good! Any idea if these need to be reserved in advance or is there no problem to buy tickets on arrival?thesvelteone wrote:Best is to use Thameslink rather than Gatwick Express. Straight from Gatwick to Kings Cross, no need to change trains. And it's only £9 I believe.
