Free running
Yeah I know it's shameless self promotion but if any of you guys have seen Jump Britain then you'll know what I'm talking about.
If you are interested then: I have organised a jam for the many people who have contacted me about starting parkour/freerunning
date: SUNDAY 23RD time: 11:00am
Meet at the timberhill entrance to the mall.
Myself and several other experienced traceurs/freeruners will be there. All beginners welcome.
Most people there will know me as draedalus/Rory.
Just thought it was relevant locally.

I tried jumping the skip I live in once:
very painful...took a bottle of Absinth and a 6-pack of Special to make the shaking stop!

Will Dj for food
Yeah
I've been doing this for ages, I trained with most of the U.K freerunners appearing on Jump Britain this summer and several other groups from london , cambridge etc.
Before jump britain at a single jam we've had no more than 6 people attending, now though there is a huge amount of interest with the possibility of 30 people or more coming to this jam on the 23rd. Almost all fo them will be beginners.
I think everybody has tried it or just does it without giving it a name

Re: Yeah
It does seem that a lot of people will try clambering onto or over some sort of public property after a night out with the bevvies. I think this is mainly due to the fact that people seem less worried about potential injuries and obviously working with an alcohol fueled physical confidence gives you that needed boost.draedalus wrote:I think everybody has tried it or just does it without giving it a name
Sounds like good numbers for the jam, I wonder how long it will be before big sportswear sponsers embrace parkour or free-running because at the moment it does seem pretty non-commercialist (which is refreshing).

How sad...
Unfortuneately lots of sports companys have tried to capitalise on it.
Sebastien Foucan (sport co-founder) was immediately sponsored by nike and did the angry chicken advert (a precursor to bellys gonna get ya and the hungry sofa advert).
UF crew (the Uks most prominent crew) were sponsored by merrel (awesome shoes) and white stuff clothes. However now they are involved in an adidas tour promoting a specialised shoe designed specifically for freerunning (which I think looks shit) all of their gear is adidas now.
I will continue to buy merrels as they are the best shoes on the planet.

Ah wow, didn't know that was that level of sponsership, but I guess with it being 'the next big urban thing' companies would be crazy to ignore it.
I've seen the Merrel shoes before, they look like they are pretty comfortable and have good traction on walls and whatnot. Shame Adidas have barged them out of the way.
For a bit of [not so nice] web action. Go to http://images.google.com and type in "spidey". Click on the second picture; why on earth would you choose to draw that?

He certainly is the pioneer son. Many many people would have gained inspiration to go and run up the side of a building after watching Spidey clamber around.willythepiss wrote:i think we all know who invented this
