Tsnuami Addiction :(

Post by james »

As the death toll edges past the ghastly figusre of 114,000 people (!), things just seem to be getting worse and worse for the poor people who have been subjected to this thing.

Some pics to show the carnage. I won't post the ones of bloated bodies lying in the streets, because it's horrible.

Satellite image of before and after.

This is one of some poor people that perhaps didn't make it out in time.
It looks as though this is the wave approaching, but I think it is the huge draw back that you get before a wave of this magnitude hits shore.

The wave coming in.
Damn it moved quickly.

A friend posed this to me last night; it may sound crazy but give it some serious thought.

Is there a chance that the tsunami could be man-made, say a result of nuclear weapons testing underwater (they apparently don't do it on land anymore).

Also, why was an ex militiary figurehead (Colin Powell) visiting the scene of the devastation with Bush's brother!?

Doubt that it would have been man made, although some countries do test nuclear weapons in the ocean they dont do it 50 miles off shore they do it in the deepest parts in the middle of the oceans, also the fact that all through the week after it happened, the areas closest to the epicenter were still experiencing upto 20 tremors a day which proves it was an earth quake.........if it wasnt then I can imagine that some government would be in a whole lot of trouble!

I saw this thing on newsnight last night about the ammounts of aid that have been given and how it has turned out to be the biggest relief effort the world saying that the ammount collected is almost $400 per survivor but then they compared it to the relief effort to another earth quake in the same region where even more people died and the ammount only came to rougly $40 per head, then they compared it to mass flooding in an african country (cant remeber which one) in the 1990's where something like 175,000 people died yet it was only reported on mainstream news for about 2 days and the money donated came to 40 CENTS per person......
I'm not complaining about people trying to help the victims of this disaster but it just seems unfair that just because the media has gone overboard on this disaster and everyone has seen it in their everday lives for the last 2 weeks that there has been a much bigger response in donating......And yet governments are able to raise huge sums for the aid (750 million i think in austrila's case) yet even without a disaster they cant help out africa where people are dying every second (im not complaining coz i know the areas affected need SO much money to rebuild but it does seem unfair)

And another fact that the same ammount of people killed in the tsunami die in africa every 18 days of AIDs

I saw another program a while back on channel 4 about children that are orphaned from aids with like 10 year old kids having look after thier younger brothers and sisters as all the adult relations to them are dead, but the most fucked up bit was a young girl who was about 4 and hadn't made a sound for years as she was raped by a man when she was 1 year old as apparently witch doctors belive and tell people that you can cure the virus by having sex with girls, the younger the better.....very wrong and a bit off topic!

Yeah sam a little of the point there, but i had heard that to.
The death toll in Africa through aids is immense. But as a natural disaster this is the biggest thing ever seen. And according to the glassed man on bbc news 24, its just the start of things to come.Due to global warming and blah blah blah, natural disasters are going to get bigger and nastier............. Maybe some things like flooding will get worse but this was caused by an earthquake which i cant see being affected by the climate too much....or maybe im wrong

Yeah it just a shame that global warming is bullshit.

I mean its happening, but humans have nothing to do with it. Who's to say the current climate is "better" just because its what we are used to.

Considering we can barely predict the weather for tomorrow, I'm not gonna take scaremongering long range climate predictions seriously, especially when geological time scales are so huge that we won't even live to see it affect us.

Its the supervolcano under Yellowstone National park we should be watching out for.

as www.artoyz.com is a nice website, not selfish, we think of other people, we feel responsible
we buy that :
http://www.artoyz.com/fo/product.php?pr ... rod_id=707

it's 15€ and all the money goes to an association to help people after the tsunami

take example : a nice english boy from london bought 3 of them!!! that's a nice english man!!
