BLOC is almost upon us so we have recently been for a meeting with the local police at Hemsby, to have a chat about how BLOC affects the local community.
The police are extremely friendly, not at all hostile to BLOC or those attending - we just talked about the impact that having 2,500 people into a village that only has about 2,000 people in it to begin with!
In particular we want to make the following things clear, in the name of ensuring that BLOC exists in total harmony with the community that hosts it:
1. Last year some numpties misbehaved at Great Yarmouth and Norwich railway station, basically being antisocial and giving it the large, unpleasant one which led to some arrests. British Transport police are aware that BLOC crew are going to be traveling through these stations, and won’t tolerate that kind of thing at all.
2. Drugs are illegal. BLOC is a licensed event and as such, operates the same approach to illegal substances that you will find at all venues and festivals - they are not tolerated. Likewise, we have systems in place to take care of people, including medics and a dedicated welfare area – but it is your responsibility to take care of yourselves for the weekend!
3. We’re sure it doesn’t need to be said to the peaceful and respectful people who attend BLOC, but violence or weapons are just not part of the BLOC experience. We operate a less-than-zero tolerance towards any sort of aggravation.
4. Please don't bring your own sound systems onto the site - they cause massive noise problems and immediately threaten the entire event. To protect the future of BLOC, we reserve the right to confiscate any PA equipment which is brought onto the site.
So that’s it citizens – peace out for raving harmony, see you all soon...
