Sunday best clothing

Hi mates just a question: what do you mean for Sunday best clothing ?
It's just an ironic expression or we must really dress the suits we use for dinner with our grandparents?

I ask you this 'cause i want to avoid any misunderstanding...

Yes, unfortunately you won't be allowed into any of the bars or music arena unless you are wearing a double-breasted suit, and a bow-tie.

Ok I knew that mine was a stupid question but, you know, in Italy when we say "best clothing" it means really dress with your best, maybe casual but always elegant, things (tie included)...if you're been in a club in our Country you had surely noticed this.

So please let me know what do you mean for sunady best clothing...
