Bloc London 2013 - from the ashes ?

I wonder if there is anyone still on here, that is from the organisation... anything that goes up on Facebook generates more heat than light.

What is going on with this BlocLondon.com site? Are Bloc coming back ?

Thanks guys, and goodbye.

I am guessing after this evening this will be the end of Bloc. Its a shame - I enjoyed so many times with you. But London Pleasure Gardens was a mistake. Shackleton was really good tonight (I made sure I was there an hour before he was due to start, endured Digital Mystikz so I was guaranteed a spot...

Who is going?

Awful quiet in here these days. I caved in and bought tickets after Steve Reich was added to the bill. Saw Music for 18 Musicians last year and was blown away. Will be interested to see what he does at Bloc. I guess its easy for me as I live in London now, I'll probably cycle home afterwards. Is any...

Re: New Venue for Bloc 2012

I was thinking more about this today during work when I was having a shit day. Made it even more shit realising that Bloc in a Butlins was no more.

Big fat thumbs down to the new venue. Fuck warehouse raving.

Re: LOL

Anyone who's been to the late night area of Glastonbury knows just how overwhelming and other-worldly our new partner's productions are. It's truly mind boggling and extraordinary. We're going to take these production values and combine them wth Bloc's precision in audio programming to open a whole...

Re: New Venue for Bloc 2012...

Where do the Tidy Trax Weekenders take place?
Somewhere in north Wales I vaguely recall. Near Rhyl.

Surely any venue that lets that lot in would be ok with Bloc'ers.

Re: New Venue for Bloc 2012...

Those Centre Parcs places look very nice. A 2 bedroom place in Longleat Forest for four people for a weekend costs around £400, some more, some less, depending on accomodation. Thats a weekend in March. £100 each for accomodation isnt too bad, and then another... £80 on top for the acts? Maybe £100?...

Re: New Venue for Bloc 2012...

I cant help be a bit skeptical about the local infrastructure not coping with 5000 heads for a few days, when it seems to cope fine all the other months with holiday makers. Im sniffing licencing issues for the usual reasons, i could be wrong but its screaming that to me and everyone else ive spoke...

Re: New Venue for Bloc 2012...

It will be interesting to see what happens with the change. Personally I quite liked Minehead - the comfortable and modern chalets, the aqua park, the beach nearby, the town itself was quite nice too. It wasnt the venue that stopped me from going last year, I guess I was getting a bit fatigued with ...

Re: Return to Hemsby.

Why would people squat in Hemsby? You might get some summer squatters there but it wouldnt be a nice place to live all year around. Unless you started using the green spaces for some vegetable growing perhaps. Maybe there are some there already, I just couldnt see all the way into the middle of the ...

(Sigh) So many memories... or lack of them. Re: Return to Hemsby.

We passed through a few of those places alright, it was a good trip, went all the way from Kings Lynn to Felixstowe, hugging the coast for most of the way but went inland a few routes too.

Took a few photos at the Bloc site. Sad to see it so boarded up and derelict. I'll upload them here soon.

I've seen this kind of nonsense suggested in a few posts now.
Why do people even think that the Bloc organisers would consider booking acts like this?

Return to Hemsby.

So guess what? I'll be doing a cycling trip around the Norfolk and Suffolk coast in a couple of weeks time, and part of the journey could possibly involve staying a night in Hemsby. Part of me would like to go and check it out again in the cold light of day, with the bizarre deserted amusement arcad...
