Good luck trying to sell tickets for a non-residential festival in the middle of London.

(what I meant by this, was for those of us not lucky enough to live in London)

Holiday Inn? Seriously?

Ruined it, an absolute shame. I'm sure stages, music, flashy lights will be wonderful. But with no-where to stay on site, there is absolutely no point.

Thought I was going to be able to keep it constructive and positive but it doesn't look like that's an option.

The most outrageous bit is the introduction of weird inequality through the "express" ticket which costs an extra £25 quid:

Express tickets to Bloc entitle you to entry on both nights as well as dedicated 'express only' queues for entry and wristband exchange. There will also be a dedicated bar, cloakroom and loos for 'Express' tickets only. This will speed up your experience of Bloc.

Bloc as we know it is dead. I hope there's a chance it will change back to March and a holiday resort next year.

Luckily for me I live in London and I'm not short of cash so will still go and have a great time but if that wasn't the case I'd feel like I'd been shat on from a great height.

by all impressions it will be a deadly festival and im hoping the line up wont be too amazing coz theres no way il be able to afford tickets plus flights plus accommodation plus everything else. i know it would be boring if bloc never changed but its a pity it will be losing the chalet aspect. i always thought the best thing about the festival is that at 6AM you only had to walk for a few minutes and fall into bed. navigating your way around london back to your hotel room when the music stops at this will a nightmare.


at least it means the end of annoying seagulls!!

I guess that level of fun couldn't last forever. I'm glad Bloc died before I did.

The new 'festival' will still be a big success but I just don't fancy it. It's two really expensive warehouse parties in a row. It's not a weekend by the sea with your mates and a bit of techno.

I'd probably have less of an issue with it if they'd admit that Bloc was finished and instead bill it as "something else....from the creators of Bloc".

Good luck anyway, I don't want to be too much of a grumpy cunt. The last few years of Bloc memories are utterly priceless and I'm very grateful for them.

spoke to all my old crew and it's a definite no, which seems to be the general consensus here and the Bloc facebook page.

It will sell out I'm sure, but I doubt many of the people who have been to previous Blocs will be bothered, so the vibe will not be the same (but as long as you are getting your £s eh Bloc)

Also the more I think about it, the more the express ticket shit is starting to wrangle me. I don't particularly want to be raving with people that want that kind of elitism, (pretty much proving my point above too) might as well just set up a direct link to Shoreditch.

This all seems quite negative but that is just because I have been to all the Minehead Blocs and had the absolute times of my life there. This is so far removed from what it used to be it's just a joke.

Good look in the future Bloc - bring it back to a holiday park in 2013 in March and I'm there

I've been to all the Blocs and enjoyed them all. I doubt I'll be going to this one though, the best thing about Bloc was the challet aspect. It's gonna be very pricey now too.
Nothing lasts forever I guess, had some amazing times.

Bangface is looking appealing but probably gonna sell out soon as all 6 berths have gone already

I really didn't want to be on a downer about this - losing Minehead was always going to be painful, but I was pretty open-minded and expected Bloc to pull something out. Can't say I'm impressed unfortunately.

No accomodation; crazy prices (£50 a night plus travel, drinks and accom for those who don't live here?!); an elitist 'express' ticket and no seaside. I didn't even mind the heffer seagulls. I feel for the Irish who used to make up such a part of the crowd and the party - accomodation is going to cost a fortune for them. If it's a probable £200 weekend all-in for me who lives 25 mins on the train away, god knows what it will cost for them.

I'm sure it will look and sound great given the history and who they're teaming up with, but the people just won't be the same. Even at Glasto, Shangri-La is 50% full of people who have no idea what they're doing there, it's just the 'trendy place to go' for them.

Not a single person of our 10+, 4-5 Blocs crew interested.

Have to big up the Bloc crew for the last 4 years though (missed the first ) - some utterly amazing times, laughs, production and of course music.

It's pretty hard to swallow for sure!

However I for one have never been to Sonar but heard it's a really well curated festival with an awesome vibe. Anybody who has seen what the guys do visually to the "naughty corner" at Glastonbury makes me think this could still be incredible! The place completely turns into another world. I am holding out on the Pleasure gardens having the ability to whisk me away.

I hate the £25 thing. I know we had Tiered priced chalets but that was sort of understandable. Queue jumping and a separate bar seems bloody awful!

If the lineup is right and they confirm music will be going on all day and night (til 6) then I am still definitely getting a ticket.

Visual Delights + Sun + Cutting Edge Electronic music for 2 days is still good for £100 in london. Sonar is 160 euro's so I guess it's not too bad. (I would have preferred £80 but never mind)

I keep trying to be positive but the minute they announce FatBoy slim is headlining and I will be most upset. (Just worrying after seeing this profile http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002124189659) A fine line between alienating the existing crowd and selling an enormous amount of tickets needs to be toed I guess.

So that went from me trying to stay positive to sounding uneasy... TIme will tell. But if it's a big barrel of sun soaked electronic lushness I know I will be gutted to have missed out.

Fuck me - there's a 10% booking fee on each ticket, so it's actually £109 for the basic ticket. Crazyness for 2 nights that finish at 6am.

Ah Bloc I loved Minehead, heck I even have a soft spot for Hemsby, but I just can't justify spending so much for two nights raving in London

I'm sure you'll do a great job and all that but Bloc without chalets and the seaside feels so wrong. Really sad that I won't see how it goes, the venue looks intriguing it must be said; but I really feel you've alienated a huge core of us. Good luck and I hope one day you get back to the seaside and I can come back to what's been my favourite festival of the past few years.

This is the worst possible case scenario I imagined mulitplied by infinity.

We have been coming over from Ireland in a group of approx 12 people for the past 2 Bloc weekends.
have spoken to all involved and no one has the slighest interest in going this year.
I would be of a strong opinion that very little Irish will travel this year, if at all any.

Disasterous news, especially given the way we have been promised somthing far superior to past Bloc weekends.
