Dedbeat presents WORD! featuring Prince Po, Beans, Mike Ladd, Rob Sonic and BUSDRIVER
dedbeat wrote:At Dedbeat we push the other side of hip hop. There’s much more to it than MTV, Crystal and Puffy Wear. ‘Word’ is a dynamic night of alternative hip hop with some of the most interesting MC’s recording today. There are five separate labels on showcase each represented by an individual style ranging from the more straight up likes of Organized Konfusion’s Prince Po to the leftist flows of Anti Pop’s Beans. Add to that the diverse spectrum of Mike Ladd’s abilities, the stalwart debut from Def Jux’s newest signing Rob Sonic and finally Big Dada’s MC / Producer extraordinaire Busdriver, and you’ve got one of the heaviest line ups of the year.
This shindig is gonna cost £12.50 minus ya booking fees, you can pick up tickets from www.ticketweb.co.uk
It's at The Scala en Londres.
[275 PentonVille Road, Kings Cross]

I will definitely be going to this one, good spread of emcees and I can't say no to seeing Busdriver again.

Ah bummer man. Modest mouse should be a good show though.

I haven't got my tickets for this yet, not sure if they're still going. I doubt it would have sold out already as the last time we saw Busdriver at 93 Feet East it was dead. This has been more hyped than that show and has a spread of other artists aswell.

I'm still up for it, if there is a Norwich contigent coming I'll go to the London one, if not they play Brighton the day before, so I win either way.

Who the fuck are Modest Mouse?

Its actually a 4-dimensional torus shape with 6 or 7 other dimensions folded up onto a planck length. Its the curvature of spacetime that makes you end up where you started.

So are people coming to this?

there are actually 36 dimensions apparently, however i only like 1,2 and 3 they're my faves... 8)

Please excuse me whilst I interupt your dimensional discussion to talk about the show.

I felt Busdriver didn't get as much love as he deserves and some people in the crowd were complete wankers (the guy sitting on stage refusing to move when Bus asked him, what was that about?) but aside from that excellent stuff.

Mike Ladd's live band were very impressive and there were solid performances from Mike himself, Beans and Rob Sonic.

If Ben can work out his digital camera we may have some photos from the night *hopeful*.
