It's been a whle but we're back....

Chalet Records presents.......

QUINOLINE YELLOW (skam records)
+ Supprt tbc

Date: Wednesday 29th September
Place: The Light Bar (or SONIC as it will be known by then!)
Time: 10-2
Tax: TBC

yup yup we have moved across the road and will be hijacking the upstairs of Superfly once a month. So not only do get the electronic juice of chalet records but also the hippity hopness of the superfly DJ's. Not quite sure of the cost yet but prob about £4.

If you ain't heard of Quinoline Yellow then i bring shame upon your whole family. They're label mates of our first booking - the mighty TEAM DOYOBI - so anyone who went to that gig will know roughly what to expect. Here is some info that i've lazily cut and pasted from various web sites. I is one lazy promoter!!

Fierce new EP on the outstanding Skam label, comes from the much hyped Quinoline Yellow. Vinyl copy also comes with a free printed Paper Towel, for some reason.

Incorporating most styles of IDM, ‘Cyriack Parasol’ is a true kaleidascope of moods and production techniques. Take ‘See14Across’ for example, those dark, orchestral moments of ‘I Care Because You Do’ mixed with the harshest of beats - a combination which shouldn’t go but works so beautifully. The Aphex influence is one that runs through the whole EP whether hidden in the background or the main lead.

Traces of every established IDM artist is scattered throughout, from the Ambient Works synths to the random Squarepusher beats of ‘Factungconceal’. The Click ‘n’ Cuts influence is present on ‘Gam Goy’, try listening without hearing Opiate’s skittered percussion. With so many different twists and genres of electronica mixed in, there’s really nothing quite like it. The only obvious number being ‘Weekendrush’, it’s far too close to Aphex Twin’s ‘Wax The Nip’ to warrant any credit.

One thing’s for sure, Skam never fail to excite. Yet another magnificent addition to their ever-expanding list of groundbreaking material. If there’s only one purchase this month, you know what it is.

9/10

And from Boomkat.co.uk..........

Blinding new 12” on Skam, the first full EP release from Quinoline Yellow on the label following the extravagent packaging coup of the 3” LMW Motors release and the bizarre Quinoline car airfreshner fiasco – something that has scarred us emotionally here for life. Oh yes. “Cyriak Parasol” is a classic exercise in crunched-up, squashed and damnright mangled electronic construction that sticks to an IDM agenda but with an execution of sound that has obviously been painstakingly honed. The opening “A Fraction Of Crouching” delivers with much metalic force, a squashed rhythm deploying itself like a rabid b-boy beast, warm tones offsetting the pace as the track progresses with a widescreen approach to space. Ace. “See 14 Across” starts off with the kind of computerised lullaby that Rephlex operator Bochum Welt became so well know for, lilting playful melodies and a regulated, tamed beast of a rhythm chugging along with wires dangling out trying to out-manouver it’s malfunctions – heartwarming, classic stuff. “Garn Boy” is much more temperamental, ignited by an angry acid mutation and distorted percussive churns, the squelches sooner or later bump into some twinkling keys and cathartic melodies for company – exactly the sort of juxtaposition that we love. In all, 7 tracks, 32 minutes long, rough-ass business. Killer.

Had enough?!?!?!?!?
