Outdoors in Minehead

Hi all!

I'm coming from Portland, Oregon near the (beautiful) west coast of the U.S. and don't know much about the (probably just as beautiful) west coast of the U.K...

of course most of my time in Minehead will be spent dancing and wigging the fuck out, but i was wondering if anyone knew of some close-by nature stuff.

i'm guessing the beach there is nice (most beaches are in my experience).

does the forest meet the ocean there?

I'd love to catch a sunrise/sunset in a choice spot.

there's a big hill right next to minehead (minehead without), with a nice cliff-top coastal walk looking at over the estuary. You'll see over to wales if it's clear. It's probably a couple of miles walk from the butlins, though an easy drive up hill rd with lots of parking at nice lookout points.

The beach at minehead isn't all that though. If you don't mind a short drive, a stop at porlock weir is nice too. If you want to see exmoor proper, head up dunkery beacon, which is also a short drive away.
