Got wind of this in the BPC newsletter today:
Check out the freaky new artwork for Modeselektor’s excellent new album ‘Happy Birthday’! Think you can do something freakier? Try to imitate Modeselektor’s artwork for ‘Happy Birthday’, upload it to Beatportal and you can win some cool Modeselektor prizes!
Modeselektor’s brilliant new LP ‘Happy Birthday’ is one of the most anticipated albums of the year.
1st Prize: Signed copies of ‘Happy Birthday’ album on vinyl and CD, a copy of Modeselektor’s last album ‘Hello Mom’, and a limited edition Modeselektor tshirt.
2nd Prize: A Modeselektor tshirt and a copy of ‘Happy Birthday’ album on vinyl.
3rd Prize: A Modeselektor tshirt.
Plus: There’s loads of Modeselektor vinyl to give away to runners-up.

I might have a go but I don't fully understand the brief.........Do you think they want you to copy it exactly and see how close you can get or do your own slant on their cover?

Not entirely sure, but I would guess that they are looking for a funny slant, probably with their faces making a prominent impression. I've got my idea down for it but going to keep it close to my chest otherwise you'll all jump in and nick my idea.

Out of the submissions on the site, I reckon you've got it in the bag. Most of them are pretty shockingly bad and using obvious internet memes for free laughs.
