PITA Vs. Z'EV w/ZERO POINT ENERGY

Post by ZZTOP »

Pita vs. Z'ev w/Zero Point Energy @ Colchester Arts Centre 17/10/06

A rich mix of non-linear post-gamelan drumming and the noise thrill of power electronics from two pivotal subterranean musicians. A display of intensely modern sound-sweeping.

Z'EV is a veteran American artist and founding father of the Industrial movement. His performances explore the poetics of space using metallic sheets, pipes, gongs and found materials as percussion. His dozens of collaborators include Glenn Branca, KK.Null, Hafler Trio, and Stephen O'Malley.

Pita (aka Peter Rehberg) is an Austrian musician/author and co-director of Mego. He is a bold modern composer who deploys noise and spiked electronics to create expressive sonic abstractions brimming with microscopic detail. He has worked with Jim O'Rourke, Christian Fennesz, Russell Haswell, Sonic Youth and Mika Vainio among others.

Zero Point Energy - Mapping bodily movements to sound and interactions with the immediate environment the Movement and Gesture Interface, along with custom-built software and visual projections will explore the connections between the human, technology and the environment.
