Yo yo,

After last month's double header, Test returns to Twisted Pepper's basement with another killer line-up.

Making his Irish debut is Dutch techno sensation Delta Funktionen aka Niels Luinenberg. He first came to our attention in 2008 with 'Electromagnetic Radiation', a deep, dubby release on Delsin sister label Ann Aimee that was the centre piece of many a warm-up set at Test. Niels then delivered a second 'Electromagnetic' release and 'Silhouette', a gritty classic that out-Berghains even Jay Galligan and has since been remixed by Marcel Dettmann. We're delighted Niels is playing at Test - check his live set from planet delsin for a taste of what to expect.

Niels is followed by Robert Hood. The godfather of dance floor minimalism, Hood, along with Dan Bell, revolutionised techno music during the mid to late 90s, with benchmark releases like 'Internal Empire', 'Minimal Nation' 'Master Builder' and 'Movable Parts'. Showing his diversity, the former Underground Resistance member also released the jazz-inspired 'Nighttime World Voume 1' album as well as dubbier sounds as Monobox and furious chord-heavy bruisers under the Missing Channel and H&M collaborative guises. Hood, unlike many of Detroit first wavers, is still a major force , with the Hoodmusic series for Music Man and his Fabric mix proving that when it comes to stripped back, hard-edged techno, he's unbeatable. Having played a classics set at his Test debut last April, we're intrigued what he has planned for this return visit.

Support comes in the form of Test resident Dan 'the man' Mc Elligott.

EPM PODCAST 06 – ROBERT HOOD (M-PLANT)

For many Robert Hood is justly revered as one of the most important and defining techno artists of our generation and EPM is proud to launch their completely redesigned website alongside one of electronic music’s most visionary composers. Robert is the guest DJ for EPM’s latest podcast, featuring tracks compiled from Hood’s label M-Plant (which is exclusively digitally distributed by EPM) featuring past, present and future releases highlighting some of Robert’s unreleased material from this summer’s ‘Omega’ conceptual artist album on M-Plant. The EPM Podcast series reaches new heights with Robert Hood’s unique vision. To download/stream the mix click here.

Hood’s forthcoming album is based on the 1971 classic science fiction film, ‘The Omega Man’ starring Charlton Heston and derived from Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel ‘I Am Legend’ (which was recently re-adapted to the big screen). This album concept is a long-held vision of Hood’s and the film’s stimulus has presented itself both musically and even spiritually for him, since he watched it as a child. Its themes appear even more relevant today and continue to haunt: “it’s definitely metaphoric” says Hood “and if we don't heed the signs, this is where we'll end up. We live in a society where we just consume. We just take. We don't operate on the concept of giving”.

As a taster of what is to come you can see Hood dropping preceding single ‘Alpha’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7_hd5s2nP8

when playing at Belgium’s legendary Fuse club recently.
