What music to expect at Kartel - http://www.afrokartel.tumblr.com

BASS CLEF (Punch Drunk) - is a artist that connects with several music traditions outside of UK bass music and reinterprets them into his own. He is noted for bringing his trombone to live shows as a nod to his enduring Jazz influences. Nigerian Afro Beat and Kenyan Benga make regular appearances in his work. He is also a proponent of Soca. A true legend to UK music.

JUMPING BACK SLASH - All the way from that hotbed of House music, Cape Town, South Africa, Jumping Back Slash has his own sound. Starting from Kwaito House and incorporating all sorts of influences from home and abroad, (his involvement in Gqom is particularly exciting to us) to create the ultimate party music. JBS is one of our favourite producers at the moment, and we're pleased to present his first London show.

VOLTA 45 (Afro-Palace), DJ, organizer, and host of Hackney's legendary Afro Funk event 'Afro Palace', Volta 45 is a leading figure in London's Afrobeat/Afro Funk circles. This is a role he deserves, with his dedication to the sounds shining through into his all vinyl DJ sets curated from rare imported 45s from West Africa. He recently played a massive set opening for Sean Kuti in London. LISTEN - tiny.cc/4v5k

MOYO & BAGHEERA (Kartel) - Kartel residents bring you a journey through the rationale of the clubnight. Early on in the evening hear hot afrobeat, afrofunk and afrodisco tracks played from vinyl. In the later hours we bring you kwaito, Gqom, Kuduro, Tribal House. Across these varied sounds Moyo and Bagheera bring melody, colour and heat to the dancefloor.
