LORY D LIVE! (Rephlex, Sounds Never Seen, Wireblock / Rome)

Lory D is one of the true unsung heroes of Techno. The Italian producer and label owner of Sounds Never Seen, Lory D is a much bigger figure in his homeland than abroad. Indeed, Lory D is a name you will find missing from the list of celebrated dark techno producers, e.g. Jeff Mills, The Mover and the Aphex Twin, although his music is just as essential. He's an ex Italian D.M.C champion who was an active participant in Rome's clubbing scene since the late '80s, playing to crowds of 10,000+ at the birth of the acid house explosion in Italy and, in the process, achieving full legendary status in his homeland.

His inspiration comes from Rome's nighttime metropolis, the darkness and beauty of the city and the overwhelming feeling of the underground raves he played/plays. Rephlex snapped up Lory D for 2003's Sounds Never Seen, with the first in a barrage of releases intended as a didactic return to the dancefloor. SNS collected the highlights from the impossible-to-find early releases of Lory's back catalog and made them widely available. Indeed, the 'Prince of Italian Acid' has been admired by everyone from Richard D James to the Skam possee for some time. Together with Rephlex label-mates, Leo Anibaldi, Bochum Welt and the D'Arcangelo brothers, Lory D best represents the 'sound of Rome' since 1991.

Having just built his 6th studio, Lory's 17 years of experience can be heard in the depth of his new, perhaps more accessible productions on labels such as Glasgow's Wireblock label. With a load of new material primed for release in 2010, his Substance live set will essential: a dark blend of electroid tweaking and analogue synth squelches combining with rattling drum boxes, razor sharp edits and twisted computer madness - fearless music for the dancefloor.

ITAL TEK LIVE! (Planet Mu, Atom River / Brighton)

Ital Tek is 24 year old Alan Myson from Brighton. Since bursting onto the Dubstep scene in 2007 with his Blood Line EP (Planet Mu Records) he has gone on to enjoy great success with constant international touring, gathering a legion of fans. Alan has carved his own niche in bass music with references to 90’s Electronica and Techno blended masterfully to create his own style of hard hitting and melodic Dubstep. He has gained respect as one of the most exciting and forward thinking producers in the scene today.

2008 saw the release of his debut album ‘Cyclical’ also on Planet Mu. The record further showcased Alan’s musical and production skills and brought about much worldwide attention. This would lead to Mary Anne Hobbs inviting Alan to perform a guest mix for her BBC Radio 1 show and he would later write the exclusive tune “Archaic” to open her “Evangeline” compilation album highlighting the best of underground bass music. The album went on to be one of the highest selling Dubstep records of the year.

In 2009 Planet Mu released the ‘Massive Error EP’ which brought together a more dance floor oriented sound with hints of grime, techno and classic IDM. Alan has been booked to play at countless club nights and festivals over the past few years including Bloc and Glade. The Guardian newspaper hailed Alan’s set at Glade Festival their highlight of the festival from a new artist.

October 2009 saw the launch of his own label Atom River with the excellent debut release “Mako EP” (check it at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACQGsKwU5P4 ), with his follow up LP on Planet Mu - due for release in 2010 - also to be showcased on the night.
