Re: Blonar - Bloc Reborn
Indeed - this is very much modelled on Sonar, and it doesn't appeal to me at all. On the other hand, I've been to Sonar 4 times (plus going again this year) and loved it, so I can't blame BLOC for wanting to bring the Sonar vibe to London. And if they succeed it will be awesome. Unfortunately I thin...

Re: VOTE TO CHANGE THE DOME
I do like the Dome, but I agree that putting some of the bigger acts in there and nowhere else was a mistake as inevitably most people can't see them. I wouldn't have minded if there had been alternative entertainment elsewhere but at some times the Dome seemed to be the only thing worth going to an...

Re: What are the ovens in the chalet like?
High-fives to all the Bloc roast dinner cooks! I've been 3 years now (2 in Butlins, 1 in Pontins) and we've done a Sunday roast every time. Just buy a big joint and slam it in about 2pm to slow cook for 6pm. Serve with basic veg and a decent bottle of red. Open the curtains and watch as passers by l...

Re: Bloc first timer, who do you recommend I go see?
From my limited experience (I went in 08) you won't get to see everyone you want to. Best laid plans etc.. but you will be blown away by an act/DJ who you have never seen play before and might not be aquanted with. Cosmic Fource were the highlight of my whole weekend that year, they play acidic ele...

Re: What type of ID should I bring?
According to the FAQ only the lead booker needs to bring "Photo ID which proves their name". I've not needed ID for anything else at Bloc in the past but then I've never had to prove my age ('cos I'm well old and have a big 'tache!) so it might be handy to have a note in the official Bloc ...

Re: Locks on bedroom doors?
Certainly not in any I've stayed in - just one lock on the front door.
In fact, the year before last the front door lock was duff and you could get in just by shoving a credit card into the door jamb and jiggling it, which was very handy if you came back without a key card

Re: Waterpark + Music suggestion
I don't recall them vetting people to get in there, other than to stop you bringing in drinks. I went in on Saturday morning so everyone was looking frazzled rather than wasted. Plenty of folk in the pool and a fairly long queue for the slides but that just turned out to be a good way to meet people...

Re: DMX Krew & Ceephax
Ditto Jerome Hill and his traditional 7am special. I'm sure they'll all appear on the list presently.
I saw DMX in the chill-out area on Sunday morning last year. Meant to tell him how good his set had been but being fairly zonked I think I just kind of stared at him... oops. Sorry, Ed!

Re: Artists for Bloc 2011?
Has anyone else on here heard of Plastic Noise Experience? Been listening to them quite a bit of late. Seems to me they'd be perfect for Bloc, given some of the acts that went down well in previous years. Very, erm, German... Those tickets had better be coming out soon - I'm itching to nab my gold-p...

Re: Artists for Bloc 2011?
I've been listening to a few Don Rimini mixes lately and thinking I'd really like to see him live. I'm also putting in my vote for Oscar Mulero and Deadmau5 if either of them are possible. Luke Slater was probably the most banging I saw this year so more of that please!

Hi All, Another superb Bloc. Let's see if I can actually recall any of it... Best: -Everything in the main room on Saturday after Salt N Pepa (Surgeon in particular) -Neil Landstrumm (until he was cut short) -Derrick May finishing everything off in style -All the cool folk I met -The security staff ...
